ICMR-NIE has been offering online courses related to health research (called “NIeCer courses”) in collaboration with the SWAYAM initiative of the Ministry of Education. These courses include, NIeCer101: Health Research Fundamentals, the National Medical Commission (NMC) mandated online course for medical postgraduates and faculty members - “Basic Course in Biomedical Research", course on prescribing skills for Indian Medical Graduates, NIeCer102: Ethics Review of Health Research, NIeCer103: Scientific Writing in Health Research and NIeCer104: Introduction to Systematic Reviews for Dental Health Professionals.

I am writing this to bring to your kind attention to the ICMR advisory making NIeCer 101: Health Research Fundamentals as a mandatory course for newly recruited health research scientists B/C/D in the ICMR cadre at Institutes and Headquarters (No. Head/HRD/ITW-2021; dated January 2021) (Attached for immediate reference).
The course is designed and conducted by faculty members from ICMR School of Public Health at ICMR-NIE. It will explain the fundamental concepts in epidemiology and biostatistics related to human biomedical research. This course will provide an overview of steps and principles for designing biomedical and health research studies among human participants. The total duration of the course is 20 hours to be completed in 8 weeks. The participants will learn through video lectures, presentation slides, quizzes and readings. In this round, we added talks on manuscript writing and grant proposal writing. More information will be available at:
